“After
Jesus drank he said, "It is finished." Then he bowed his
head and died.” John 19:30
Don’t you like the feeling you have
when you have completed a task? I teach a class at night and
every time the course is done, I experience similar
feelings. There is a certain degree of joy, mixed with a
feeling that a weight has been lifted. But I guess the word
that best sums it up is satisfaction. I have learned
that when something is difficult, perhaps even painful, the
feeling of satisfaction at the end of the task is even more
powerful and beautiful.
Jesus, the Son of God, had a task. He
gave up his rightful place at the right side of the Father
for thirty three years in order to live among us, and for
three years he taught us how to live a God pleasing life. He
became our path to heaven. This was a difficult, painful and
well planned task. It is with great and unimaginable
satisfaction that he exclaims “It is finished!”
It is finished; his separation
from the Father. It is finished, the old system of
sacrifices. It is finished; the difference between
Jew and Gentile. It is finished; our burden of sin.
It is finished; our inaccessibility to God. It is
finished; our salvation!
Now we have direct access to God the
father and with that forgiveness of sin. This season we
remember the death of Jesus on the cross. He died, willingly
as He finished his task on earth. Exhausted and in pain he
victoriously declared, “IT IS FINISHED!”

Jesús tomó el vinagre, dijo: “¡Consumado es!” E inclinando
la cabeza, entregó el espíritu. Juan 19:30
Que agradable es el sentir de que hemos terminado algún
trabajo. Yo enseño una clase en la noche y cada vez que el
curso llega al final, tengo el mismo sentir. Hay un grado de
gozo, junto con el sentir que un peso ha sido quitado. Pero
la palabra que mejor expresa este sentir es satisfacción.
He aprendido que mientras más difícil y hasta dolorosa
es una tarea, más poderosa y bella es la satisfacción.
Jesús, el Hijo de Dios, tuvo una tarea. El entrego su lugar
al lado del Padre por treinta y tres años, para vivir entre
nosotros y por tres años nos enseño como vivir una vida que
agrade a Dios. El se convirtió en nuestro camino al cielo.
Esta fue una tarea difícil, dolorosa y bien planificada. Es
con gran e inimaginable satisfacción que el exclama, “!
Consumado es!”
Consumado es;
su separación del Padre. Consumado es; el sistema
viejo de sacrificio. Consumado es; la diferencia
entre el judío y el gentil. Consumado es; nuestra
carga de pecado. Consumado es; nuestra
inaccesibilidad a Dios. Consumado es; nuestra
salvación!
Ahora tenemos acceso directo a Dios el Padre y con eso,
perdón de pecado. En este tiempo recordamos la muerte de
Jesús en la cruz. El murió voluntariamente, terminando su
tarea en la tierra. Extenuado y en dolor, El,
victoriosamente declaro, “CONSUMADO ES!”
